World Championship of Hockey - Tuesday May 21st
« on: May 21, 2019, 11:58:23 AM »
Finland - Germany 1.40 - 5.40 - 6.00

Last game of the group stage for these teams. Finland has won five out of their six games, losing only to USA after overtime (3-2). Germany has done well also, but has lost two of their six games, both of them in a row coming into this game. Finland has won Canada (1-3), Great Brittain (5-0), France (3-0), Denmark (3-1) and Slovakia (4-2). Germany has won Great Brittain (3-0), Denmark (2-1), France (4-1) and Slovakia (3-2). Germany lost to USA (1-3) and Canada (1-8). Kaapo Kakko (6+1) leads Finland in points, Markus Eisenschmid (1+5) leads Germany.

Finland is top team of the group, one point ahead of Canada. Germany is 4th, and is cleared for playoff rounds. Even is Slovakia wins Denmark and Germany loses this game, Germany beat Slovakia in their fixture, which makes them go through. These two teams are really good defensively. Germany has scored little over 2 goals per game on average, giving away little over 2,5. Of course getting slaughtered by Canada shows in that stat. Finland has little bit over 3 goals for on average, while giving away only little over 1 goal per game on average.

Finland surely wants to keep their 1st spot in the group, Germany can still move up if they win and Canda and USA drop points by going to overtime. Two defensive teams having lots to play for sounds like a low scoring game to me. Under 5,5 goals odds are really low, so I go for under 4,5 goals which covers also results like 2-2, and 3-1 which I think will be most likely results.

PICK:
Under 4,5 goals 2.17
1st period under 1,5 goals 1.70 (2 goals within 2 minutes on the last 5 minutes left in period :D

Czech Republic - Switzerland 1.82 - 4.25 - 3.60

Two great teams finish their group games today. Czech Republic is 2nd in their group, while Switzerland is sitting at 4th. Both teams have secured their spot in the playoffs. Czech's team comes to this game after winning to games in a row 8-0 against Italy and Austria. Switzerland has lost two in a row against Russia (0-3) and Sweden (4-3). Jakub Voracek (2+10) and Michael Frolik (6+6) are sharing the point leader spot for Czech Republic. Nico Hischier (3+4) leads the Swiss team, Kevin Fiala (4+2) following right behind.

Switzerland has scored little under 4 goals per game on average, while giving away 1,5 per game. Czech Republic is scoring little over 5,5 goals per game and giving away little over 1,5. Switzerland can move up in the group if they win their game today. With a win they would finish either 2nd or 3rd, but it also depends on what happens in game between Russia and Sweden. Czech Republic can only move down, they can't win their group anymore.

In four games out of six Switzerland has played, there has been under 5,5 goals scored. In five games out of six Czech Republic has played, there has been 7 or more goals scored. Odds suggest that there will be under 5,5 goals scored. Czech's have the fire power, but Switzerland is defending really well. Czech Republic is a favorite in this game and I think they will win this. After Hischier and Fiala Switzerland hasn't had that many other players to turn games at their way. Czech's have deeper squad and can find players to win games also behind Frolik and Voracek.

PICKS:
Czech Republic 1.82
Czech Republic over 3,5 goals 2.40

Norway - Latvia 4.10 - 4.80 - 1.63

Two teams that have nothing to play for in this last game. Both Latvia and Norway are sitting at 6 points while you need atleast 12 points to qualify to playoffs. Norway has now won two in a row, after losing their fist four games. Wins came over two worst teams in the tournament Austria (5-3) and Italy (7-1). Latvia has lost three in a row but has fought well against big teams, latest game being yesterday against Sweden. Latvia bullied the Swedes for a long time, even leading once. Sweden ended up winning the game scoring empty net scoreline being 4-4 at that moment.

Roberts Bukarts scored a hattrick against Sweden and leads Latvia in goals (4). Rudolfs Balcers (1+6) still leads Latvia in points. Norway has four players with 5 points. Latvia has scored little under 3 goals per game on average, while giving away little under 3,5. Norway is scoring 3 goals per game aswell, while giving away little under 5 goals per game.

Now that both teams have nothing to play for, they can have some fun and play without pressure. That being said, I'm expecting goals in this game. Even over 5,5 goals gives nice odds.

PICKS:
Over 5,5 goals 2.30 (1-4)

Slovakia - Denmark 1.30 - 6.50 - 7.00

Slovakia woke up too late in this tournament and the hosts will be out of playoffs after this game, no matter what happens in Finland - Germany game. Slovakia lost two games with last minute meltdowns. First they lost to Canada 6-5. They had 2 goal lead TWICE and they lost it both times. They even got back to 5-5, but ended up losing after Canada scored a powerplay goal ONE SECOND before buzzer. Game after that Slovakia had the lead till the second last minute, but Germany scored two goals in 1,5 minutes and ended up winning. Denmark has won twice in this tournament beating Great Brittain and France, two worst teams in the group. Slovakia comes to this game in a two game winning streak after beating both GB and France.

Slovakia has scored little over 5 goals on average in this tournament, while giving away 3 goals on average. Denmark has scored little under 3 goals on average, while giving away 3,5. Richard Panik (1+6) leads Slovakia in points, Matus Sukel leads Slovakia in goals (5). Lars Eller is the best point scorer for Denmark with 5 (2+3) points.

Without those unfortunate games Slovakia has, they would be going through instead of Germany. Now they will get to play without pressure and surely wants to win their last game in front of home crowd. I'm thinking of lots of goals, maybe Slovakia winning by a mile.

PICKS:
Over 5,5 goals 1.89
Richard Panik 2 points or more 2.40 (Did not play)

Canada - USA 2.20 - 4.35 - 2.63

A long waited, one of the most iconic fixtures in sports. Canada is 2nd in their group, USA 3rd. Both teams lost their opener, but after that have won their other five games. Slovakia beat USA and Canada lost to Finland. Both of these teams have been amazing after opening games. Canada has scored 5,5 goals on average while giving away little under 2. USA has scored 4,5 goals on average while giving away 2. Anthony Mantha (7+4) leads Canada in points. Patrick Kane (2+8) leads Team USA. Both teams top lines have done really good and both teams have deep squads. It's hard to predict the winner here now that both teams are in super good form. Canada's stats are slightly better.

PICKS:
Canada 2.20
1st period under 1,5 goals 2.25

Sweden - Russia 2.90 - 4.20 - 2.07

Russia has not lost a single game in this tournament and have full 18 points from 6 games. Sweden has lost once, and it was in opening game against Czech Republic. Russia has scored little under 5 goals on average, while giving away 0,5 goals on average. Sweden has scored little over 6 goals on average, while giving away little over 2. William Nylander (4+11) leads the tournament in points, Nikita Kucherov following right behind with 14 points (6+8). Sweden has more point scorers with more points, Russia has three main point scorers in Kucherov, Dadonov (6+2) and Gusev (3+8).

Eventhough Sweden has more players with more points, Russias defending and goaltending is far better, giving away only 1 goal in 5 games. Russia is a favorite in this game and I'm gonna roll with them too.

PICK:
Russia 2.07
Evgeni Dadonov 1 point or more 1.75

Some lower odds picks for doubling etc.

Latvia over 2,5 goals 1.53
Rudolfs Balcers 1 point or more 1.42

Lauris Darzins 1 point or more 1.42
Slovakia -1,5 1.52

Richard Panik 1 point or more 1.40 (did not play)
Matus Sukel 1 point or more 1.55
Alex DeBrincat 1 point or more 1.52
Patrick Kane 1 point or more 1.42
Jack Eichel 1 point or more 1.62

Mark Stone 1 point or more 1.50
Jonathan Marchessault 1 point or more 1.52
Anthony Mantha 1 point or more 1.67Russia over 2,5 goals 1.62
Nikita Kucherov 1 point or more 1.55
Nikita Gusev 1 point or more 1.65
William Nylander 1 point or more 1.65

Couple of surprises in these games and couple unfortunate misses. I didn't expect USA to be left without a goal. In Sweden - Russia game there was a lot of good point scorer picks. Now games only get harder :)
