Tennis - French Open thoughts

Antoine Hoang (FRA) - Damir Dzumhur (BIH)

Opening round of the tournament. Bosnian native Dzumhur is in 52th place on the ATP list, while his French opponent is 146th. Dzumhur has won 4 out of his last 5 games. He played in Geneva, Switzerland and got eliminated by Radu Albot in the quarter finals 2-0. The tournament was played on clay, the same court type French Open has. Dzumhur won only one game without losing a set in Geneva. Hoang, who plays for his home crowd has lost 4 of his last 5. All of the last 5 games have been played on clay. Hoang has taken one set from every opponent except for one in his last 5.

French Open is best out of 5 system, so players need to win 3 sets to win the game. I believe that Hoang will take one set from Dzumhur, but that's it. Bosnian will go through to second round.

PICKS:
Damir Dzumhur -1,5 1.60 (Veikkaus)
Over 3,5 sets 1.70 (Paf.com)
Match result - 1-3 3.90 (Paf.com)

Timea Babos (HUN) - Priscilla Hon (AUS)

Timea Babos is in 148th place on WTA list, while Priscilla Hon is in slightly better position 132th. Babos has won 3 out of her last 5 games on clay, while Hon has won only one of her last 5 on clay. Babos has played 14 games on clay this year, while Hon has played three. Out of her 14 games on clay this year, Babos has won 8. Hon has lost 2 out of her 3 games on clay this year, latest of them being against today's opponent Babos. Hungarian beat Hon in two sets just few weeks ago.

Based on the last game between these two ladies and Babos's experience on clay, I'm picking the Hungarian here.

Timea Babos 1.43 (Paf.com)
Game result - 2-0 2.14 (Paf.com)

Karen Khachanov (RUS) - Cedrik-Marcel Stebe (GER)

Karen Khachanov is 11th on the ATP list, while C-M Stebe is not on the list at all. Khachanov has won 3 out of his last 5 games on clay. He has played 8 games on clay this year, but only won three. Stebe has played three games on clay this year. Before that, he played on clay last time in 2017. Stebe was sent home from last two tournaments in two sets, by Denis Istomin (ATP 97) and Dustin Brown (ATP 171). Stebe has only played three games overall this season and hasn't won a set in them.

Khachanov is a huge favorite here for a good reason. His odds are unplayable (1.03 on Veikkaus, 1.04 on Paf.com). I think Stebe has no chance against this Russian opponent and Khachanov will beat Stebe in three sets.

PICK:
Points in the game - Under 29,5 1.77 (Paf.com)
Points in the game - Under 29,5 1.68 (Veikkaus)

On Veikkaus you can get 3.05 total odds, if you pick Babos, Khachanov - Stebe u29,5 points and Dzumhur without handicap. A nice little ticket for triple.
