Turkish Super Lig: Konyaspor - Fenerbache
« on: August 28, 2022, 04:59:03 PM »
This game will be played on Monday. Both Konyaspor (1W, 2D) and Fenerbache (2W, 1D) remain unbeaten after 3 league games. Both teams have been playing in European Cup competitions this season.

Konyaspor - Season so far

Hosting team played three friendly matches against three different Turkish sides before entering Europa Conference League (ECL) qualifiers. Konyaspor ended up winning one, losing one and drawing one game. In ECL they first beat BATE Borisov, the Belarussian side 5-0 between two games, but lost second round to Vaduz 5-3 on aggregate.

In the Super Lig, Konyaspor has played two draws (both 0-0) and won newly promoted Istanbulspor 4-0. In their season opener Konyaspor was unable to produce dangerous scoring chances and ended up with 0 shots on target barely winning possession. In their second game they lost possession 40 to 60 against better quality team, but managed to hold them to a draw. The only win came against poor team with quite equal possession, but they created more scoring chances and eventually scored from them.

Fenerbache - Season so far

Fenerbache played 6 friendlies before starting their Champions League campaign. In those 6 games they won 5 times and played one draw. Fenerbache lost their Champions League qualifier to Dinamo Kiev, but ended up qualifying to Europa League after beating both Slovacko (4-1 on aggregate) and Austria Vienna (6-1 on aggregate).

In their first three league games Fenerbache have won two games and played one draw. They opened the season against newly promoted side Ümraniyespor. Fenerbache was the dominating team, but the game ended in a 3-3 draw. In their second game Fenerbache beat Kasimpasa 0-6, with absolutely dominant performance. The visiting team won the possession 28 - 72% and created far more chances (24 chances, 9 shots on target). Latest win came against Adana Demispor 4-2. Fenerbache actually created less chances and lost possession, but won comfortably.

Konyaspor has 4 goals in 3 games and are yet to concede a goal in the league so far. Fenerbache has scored whopping 13 goals in three games while giving away 5 goals. Konyaspor has 4 different scorers so far. Enner Valencia has scored 6 goals for Fenerbache, leading the whole league in goals right now.

What to bet?

Konyaspor finished third last season, while Fenerbache came 2nd. Both teams are solid, but Fenerbache is known as a league giant and one of the best teams in league history. Fenerbache made some really good signings during the summer. They have focused on attack and added Diego Rossi, Emre Mor, and Joshua King to their roster. All of these additions are top class in Turkish league.

Even though Konyaspor hasn't given away any goals yet, I think Fenerbache's attacking force is too much to handle for them. Enner Valencia is in red hot form (2 goals in every league game so far) and he gets quality support from midfield and other attackers. I would pick the visitors to win due to better material.

PICK: Fenerbache
